In November 2018, Steve Bannon, previously Donald Trump's chief strategist, was in the UK preparing for a address at the Oxford Union.

The event was disrupted by numerous protesters, and Bannon, scheduled to board a flight that evening, told Jeffrey Epstein in an message: "Protesters slowed down speech don't think I can catch the flight we r enroute to heathrow".

Epstein responded: "That. Is a Gulf Air departing at 9:50 with a layover in Bahrain". Bannon replied: "You are an excellent assistant".

These exchanges were released on Wednesday alongside more than 20,000 pages from the records of Epstein, the deceased financier convicted of sex crimes.

The release by the Congressional committee includes an text conversation where Bannon's identity is withheld. Media outlets managed to establish his involvement by matching the dates, events, and locations mentioned.

For instance, Epstein talks about chartering a jet from Scotland for the unnamed individual in the chat, and commends their "Oxford speech". Bannon took part in the Edinburgh conference on November 14, and gave the talk at the Oxford on November 16.

Bannon, who is not accused of any misconduct, declined to comment on the request for comment.

Epstein's Assurance to Bannon

Bannon served as the president's closest advisers in the run up to the presidential election and during the initial phase of his presidency, but stepped down from the administration in August 2017.

He has acknowledged he was making a film about Epstein prior to his passing and reportedly has around 15 hours of recordings. In a live taping of his podcast earlier this year, he said: "We're going to publish the film, the five-part series, in the coming year - at the start of next year."

But the newly released materials indicate Bannon's connection with Epstein extended than being his biographer, with the convicted paedophile occasionally appearing to serve like a personal assistant.

A short time before the conversation in which Epstein appeared to have arranged a private plane for Bannon, Epstein said: "what's it like to have the most highly paid travel agent in the world ".

Bannon thanked him: "You are quite capable asst", to which Epstein responded "Massages. Not Included".

Discussing a visit to "AD" in another message, Epstein told Bannon: "I'll make sure you're taken care of."

UK Politics Mentioned in Messages

The released messages also reveal Bannon and Epstein talking about British political matters in that year.

On the same day his address at the Oxford, Bannon texted Epstein: "I've gotten pulled into the EU exit issue this morning with Nigel, Boris and Mogg."

Then, in what appears to be a reference to the UK prime minister, the embattled British leader at the period, he added: "The guys are attempting to move on. May soon…"

Epstein advised Bannon: "I think staying as long as you can in the UK. Ideal- so others see the commitment of your follow-up."

Soon after, Epstein inquired: "Can Theresa may remain in power". Bannon answered: "It seems unlikely BUT the people over here have little courage" and added "Johnson ; Gove; Rees Mogg; Davis - someone has to step up".

May was eventually removed in May 2019 after withstanding two votes of lack of support in late 2018.

A spokesman for Reform UK told the BBC: "Farage has never been in a meeting with Bannon, Jacob Rees Mogg and Johnson." And there is nothing to suggest that encounter occurred.

The Congress will vote next week on whether the Department of Justice should make public all its files concerning its probe into Epstein, who died in prison in 2019.

Attention in Epstein's relationships with powerful figures was reignited recently after the release of over 20,000 documents from his archives.

Some of those mentioned Trump, who has repeatedly rejected any impropriety. The leader was a friend of Epstein's for a long time, but says they parted ways in the early 2000s, two years before Epstein was first arrested.
